Written as a response to the first UK lockdown in March 2020.
We’re told it’s to help us
to slow the spread of the virus
It’s selfish to think otherwise
A fine to go outside
–
Let’s get lockdown done!
–
No more talk of Brexit
Only the rich are being tested
A world supposed to be united
People are bloody frightened
–
Toilet rolls back in stock
Stockpilers have stopped
Alcohol sales at an all time high
Domestic violence on the rise
–
Parents learning how hard teachers have it
Homeschooling kids is too hard to manage
Furloughed workers on 80% pay
Years of recession just to survive today
–
Daily briefings from our government
show no plans for the old and vulnerable
PPE in short supply
The government’s letting our workers die
–
Stay home
Stay safe
‘It’s all that matters’
Follow the rules
We’re told it’s to help us.
